Abstract
517,802. Materials for making coke and other products. ADLER, R. March 3, 1939, No. 7013. Convention date, April 29, 1938. [Class 55 (ii)] Crude oil or tar is mixed, preferably while hot, with potassium carbonate so as to form a stiff paste which is then distilled at gradually increasing temperatures up to 350‹-400‹C. until a solid residue is obtained, the heating preferably being under vacuum. The residue is further heated to 700‹-1000‹C. to yield a completely degasified and activated carbon.
