[Class 68 (i)] [Also in Group VIII] In solidifying loose or porous masses, particularly masses consisting wholly or partly of fine sand, by the addition of water glass and salt solutions, the water glass solution is made strongly alkaline by the addition of an alkaline compound or compounds of an alkali metal or of ammonia, and preferably has a concentration of 30‹ 'to 35‹Be.
