Abstract
516,124. Conditioning grain, DIENST, K. June 20, 1938, No. 18217. Convention date, June 18 1937. Addition to 452,546. [Class 58] [Also in Group XIII] Grain is dried according to the parent Specification, i.e., by passage under gravity from a feeding chamber e through an air lock g to a vacuum chamber divided into three sections, the top a supply container c, the intermediate a heating section a having a steam-heated radiator b and discharging continuously by a device z into a third section which is container d for treated grain, which passes then through an air lock h to a withdrawal chamber ; the grain is then further dried by passage through a separate vacuum chamber of similar construction with a higher degree of vacuum and a heating device B spaced from the grain inlet C and outlet D by distances through which the grain is exposed only to the vacuum. A common air lock h is placed between the two vacuum chambers, the lower of which is freed from air by a steam jet aspirator connected to the condenser of the upper chamber. The grain may be cooled as well as dried in the second section and is finally delivered through an air lock K at 15-20‹C. The air locks h, K are connected by a pipe to a vacuum producing plant and are actuated electrically or hydraulically from a single control. Specification 516,163, [Group XIII], is referred to.
