[Class 146 (i)] Relates to binders of the kind comprising a channelled member 4, Fig. 1, . adapted to form the back of the binder, and a series of open rings 10, Fig. 2, joined by a connecting-member 8, which are slid lengthways on to the member 4, so that the free ends of the rings and the connecting-member lie in the channels 7 therein. According to the invention, the rings and the connecting-member are made of wire, instead of from strip material, as heretofore, so that they may be formed by bending instead of by stamping. The channelled member may be built up from separate strips, or may be formed by a member bent into dovetail form. The ends of the rings may engage recesses in the channelled member to prevent the connecting-wire from sliding out, or the wire may have a kinked part 15 for the same purpose. The channelled member may have slots 24, Fig. 8, in one edge, so that the rings may be turned until their ends enter the channel, and the wire then slid lengthways. The rings may be of oval or flattened form, whereby the edges of the leaves are held straighter than in the case of circular rings.
