Abstract
516,099. Engine radiators for aircraft &c. SOC. FRANCAISE HISPANO-SUIZA. Aug. 9, 1938, No. 23455. Convention date, Feb. 14. [Class- 64 (iii)] [Also in Group XXXIII] One or more aircraft engine cooling radiators R, Fig. 1, are mounted within a cowling C connected to the engine casing F, so that each radiator moves with the cowling when the inlet and outlet openings of the latter are adjusted by its movement relatively to the casing F. The cowling C is connected to the casing F by rods 5 which with the radiator make a deformable parallelogram. A recess 6 is provided in the casing F into which the radiator R and cowling C may be completely retracted, In a modfication, Fig. 4, the radiator R is connected to the casing F through a movable partition 7, and the cowling C is moved by a toothed rack and pinion 8, 9. In a further modification, Fig. 5, the radiator R may move parallel to itself, and is mounted on a rod 8 connected to the walls F by extensible partitions 7, 7<1>.
