Abstract
502,438. Liquid - fuel burners. SIRONE CO., Ltd. March 15, 1938, No. 7999. Convention date, March 25, 1937. [Class 75 (i)] An oil-fuel burner for use in domestic cooking ranges or stoves or for heating drying chambers comprises a burner pot 17 mounted by a screwed stem 18 in a cylindrical combustion chamber 12 which opens at one end into the space to be heated and is nearly closed at the other end by a removable plate 23. The chamber 12 is surrounded by a light metal casing 25 secured to a flange 13 on the chamber and supported by screwed pins 40. Air entering the casing 25 through an opening regulated by a hinged flap 28 passes partly through a triangular aperture 16 into the chamber 12 for the combustion of the fuel supplied by a pipe 22 to an asbestos pad 19 in the burner pot and partly through apertures 14 in the flange 13 to induce a flow of atmospheric air through an opening 13b between a plate 13a and the chamber 12 to mix with the combustion products issuing from the chamber 12. An adjustable perforated ring 15 may be provided for regulating the apertures 14. The fuel pipe 22 may pass either through an aperture 21 in the chamber 12 or the aperture 16 which is formed with tapering sides to agitate the air currents impinging upon the burner pot. The lower part of the chamber 12 is formed with holes 20 for draining unburnt fuel. Vapour to mix with the air may be provided by a water well 30 in the casing 25 which is provided with a drain 34 and an inspection cover 33.
