Abstract

502,213. Centrifugal pumps. JAECKEL, F. O. March 1, 1938, No. 6386. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Sept. 12, 1938.] [Class 110 (i)] A centrifugal pump casing has an axial inlet boss 12 housing the axial inlet boss 11 of the impeller 9, a rubber sleeve 17 being secured within the casing boss 12 to engage the end surface of the impeller boss 11 and prevent leakage of sealing fluid. This fluid is supplied to bearing 13 from connection 15, bearing 30 being similarly supplied from connection 32. The casing consists of a central member-4 centred to side plates 2, 3 by annular' spigots 5, part 4 being angularly adjustable or reversible. The impeller 9 has helical axial vanes 19 leading to curved radial vanes of progressively increasing thickness so as to form uniform passages. The impeller has a hollow stub shaft 24 splined to the main shaft 34 and secured by screw studs 29 engaging a collar 36 on shaft 34.
