501,973. Moulding synthetic resins. GROVES, W. W. (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.) Sept. 7, 1937, No. 24412. Addition to 485,000. [Class 87 (ii)] In moulding polyvinyl chloride, the material, which is in pulverulent form or in the form of pieces and contains no softening agent, is rendered plastic and freed from air by working it at a temperature above 140‹ C., for example 150-160‹ C., selected according to the degree of polymerization as set out in the parent Specification, and is then moulded under pressure at a lower temperature, for example 90-110‹C. Polyvinyl chloride having a K-value 60 is rendered plastic in a masticator and heated to 160‹ C. The hot plastic mass is then moulded as by injection into a mould at 105‹ C.
