Abstract
508,875. Windings for dynamo-electric machines. WEST, H., and METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Jan. 29, 1938, No. 2908. [Class 35] In a winding with two layers for an A.C. machine wherein the bars in the inner layer are normally connected to bars in another layer but wherein certain spaced bars of the same layer must be connected together to complete a wave winding, the end connections of said bars of the same layer are bent so as to be disposed in the level of and extend in the same direction as the end winding parts of the bars of the other layer. In the form shown in Fig. 3, at each end of the core, the end windings of one layer extend in one direction and those of the other layer extend in the opposite direction except that, in the case of each phase an upper layer bar such as b is connected by a modified end connector 8 to another bar of the same layer, the end connector 8 being bent as indicated in Fig. 6 so that it lies parallel to and on a level with the end connectors of the bars in the bases of the slots.
