508,279. Saddles. BOOT, H. M., and DIS, H. VAN. Oct. 31, 1938, No. 31473. Convention date, Nov. 1, 1937. [Class 136 (iii)] In a cycle saddle having a seat consisting of leather or other flexible and not very elastic material, the seat is connected to the saddle underframe by one or more suspension devices each comprising a link pivotally connecting the seat to the underframe and a spring so arranged relatively to the underframe and the link that the suspension devices will exert an outwardlydirected force which tensions the seat when the latter is loaded. The top 1, Fig. 1, has its rear end pivoted at 10 to an upturned part 4 of the underframe 7, and is supported at the peak by an inclined pivoted link 5 and by a spring 6, which is connected to the upper pivot 11 of the link, its lower end being connected to the underframe 7 at a point separated from the lower link pivot 12, e.g. to the end of the underframe at 13. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the rear end of the top 1 is supported by two springs 14, and by a pair of slightly curved links 15, which are pivoted to the underframe 7 on the same pivot pin 12 as the front pair of links 5.
