[Class 51 (ii)] In a heating system for bakers' ovens rows of burners 26 extend across the top and bottom of an oven in combustion chambers 17, 18, offset from conduits 11, 12 located above and below the oven chamber 10 and through which and transverse headers 13, 14 the combustion gases are drawn by a fan 16 and recirculated through a discharge conduit 22 and transverse upper and lower headers 19, 20, an adjustable damper 32 controlling the relative distribution to those headers. Uniform heating along the oven is ensured by a decrease in the cross-section of insulating spaces 30 formed between the oven chamber and conduits 11, 12. Gas burners supplied from pipes 27, 28 extending from the sides of the oven may be used. Separate heating systems of the above type with suitable modifications may be used for double deck ovens and the pan conveyer and travelling sole types of oven. In the latter case sections of the oven may be heated by separate heat sources, a single fan or a fan for each section being used and oil burners if desired provided at the sides of the oven.
