Abstract
507,452. Endless-chain conveyers. SCHLOEMANN AKT.-GES. Aug. 2, 1938, No. 22854. Convention date, Aug. 3, 1937. [Class 78 (i)] [Also in Groups XXII and XXIV] The endless conveyer chains 3 of tilting or lifting tables for feeding and returning work on each side of a rolling mill, are reversibly driven through a friction clutch comprising a pair of oppositely driven plates 8, each containing an electromagnetic winding 9 to attract a splined friction disc 7 to one or other of the driven plates whereby the shaft 6 carrying the chain sprockets is reversed. In one case a single motor 16, Fig. 2, drives both plates 8 in opposite directions, the drive being through bevel gears 14, shaft 13 to both gears 10 one train having an intermediate pinion 11 to reverse its direction. In another case two motors are used, each driving one clutch plate in an opposite direction to the other.
