Abstract
506,452. Darts. BOWLES, R. April 6, 1938, No. 10480. [Class 132 (iii)] A collapsable. dart comprises at least two telescopically associated parts having means for maintaining them in extended relationship one of the parts being adapted to be connected at one or both ends with another similarly constructed dart. A set of darts, when not in use, is connected end to end as shown in Fig. 1 and provided with end caps l, m. The end cap l may carry a flat case to retain flights, and the point cap m may be combined with a propelling pencil. Alternative constructions of dart are shown in Figs. 2 . . . 5. As shown in Fig. 2, the tail e of the dart is screwed to engage a bush d at the rear end of the body a. When not in use, the tail is unscrewed and telescoped into the body. The point c of a second dart is then inserted into the tail e of the first dart, and the two darts connected by a screwed extension b of the second engaging the bush d of the first. A shoulder k prevents the removal of the tail from the body. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the bush d is dispensed with and assembly of tho 'tail and body enabled by a screw connection h<1> between the body and point. The darts are telescoped and connected as in the previous construction. In the form shown in Fig. 4, the point c is arranged to be telescoped into the body a and to be followed by the tail e of a second dart. The construction shown in Fig. 5 enables the length of the dart to be adjusted, the tail e being connected to the body a by a sleeve o having a longitudinal slot p and notches q to engage a pin r on the body. The bodies of the darts may be provided with transparent sheaths between or on which advertising matter may be printed.
