506,142. Pneumatic tyres. UNITED STATES RUBBER PRODUCTS, Inc. Oct. 7, 1938, No. 29089. Convention date, Oct. 22, 1937. [Class 144 (ii)] [Also in Group V] A pneumatic tyre having a circumferentially - ribbed tread is provided with insets 8, which partially fill the grooves, formed of rubber composition of a lower abrasion resistance than that of the tread ribs 7. The insets may be separately applied, or they may be extruded together with the tread proper. A suitable composition for the insets consists of rubber (100), zinc oxide (5), accelerator (62), stearic acid (1À50), Clay (15), pine tar (2À25), oil (1À75), sulphur (2À75).
