Abstract

505,297. Centrifugal and screw fans. WALTERS; T. A. Feb. 18, 1938, No. 5115. Convention date, May 27, 1937. [Class 110 (i)] A centrifugal fan has an inlet chamber 2, Fig. 1, communicating through a lateral opening 4 with the fan casing 3 and containing a flat baffle plate 6 adjacent the opening 4. The plate is radial to the fan axis and may be located as shown by full or dotted lines on one or both sides of the fan. The plates eliminate the vortex whirl. Fig. 4 shows a modified casing with the plate at the upper side of the fan. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 states that a baffle plate 6, Fig. 8 (Cancelled), may be mounted within the inlet chamber of a screw fan tangential to its axis. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
