Abstract
504,824. Gaseous - - fuel furnaces. OESTERREICHISCH AMERIKANISCHE MAGNESIT AKT.-GES. Aug. 31, 1937, No. 23842. Convention date, Jan. 9. [Class 51 (i)] In a reverberatory furnace the fuel and air for combustion entering through the ports 1, 2 are intimately mixed by introducing compressed air or gas into the gas stream through pipes 4 having nozzles directed towards the outlet ports. The nozzles 6 are arranged as shown in Fig. 3 at right-angles to the axis of the pipe 4 which is provided with a jacket for the circulation of cooling liquid. The pipes are provided with a hemispherical bearing member 12 which rests upon a seat 13 and an adjustable collar 10 provided with a handle 11, so that the nozzles may be adjusted in height, tilted and turned in the direction of flow of the gas stream. The pipes 4 may be arranged in the central longitudinal plane of the furnace or in planes on both sides thereof.
