497,201. Bolts. SCHAURTE, W. T. May 17, 1938, No. 14725. Convention date, June 23, 1937. [Class 89 (i)] The non-threaded portion a of a bolt is formed with an axial bore d and with depressions b which extend along the shank of the bolt as substantially broad and flat helical convolutions, the cross-sectional area of the shank wall remaining uniform over the entire length of the bolt, including the threaded portion c. The depressions b may constitute a single helix or multiple helices, and may have an inclination opposite to that of the threads on the portion c.
