Abstract
496,833. Hinges. ROGERS, R. H. June 1, 1937, Nos. 27091; and 27830 (divided application). [Class 65 (ii)] [Also in Group XI] A bottom hung door 9 is mounted on an oven 5 by a pair of hinge members 10 centrically mounted on a shaft 12 and may be held in several partially open positions by a spring- loaded plunger 19 cooperating with notches 21 ... 25. A spring 18 counterbalances the weight of the door during opening. The members 10 are attached to the door 9 by flanges 14 connected to an H-section reinforcing member 28, formed by welding together two pressings 35, 36. The member 28 is attached to the inner part 29 of the door by U - shaped brackets 47 having slots 48 in their arms accommodating clip plates 49 tapped for clamping screws 50. The member 28 is heat insulated from the part 29 by an asbestos cord 43. A stamped metal plate or frame 54 attached to the inner door part 29 by brackets 55, strengthens the door and acts as a heat insulator for the outer face 31. The arm 11 abuts against the supporting bracket 13 when the door is fully open. Specifications 476,677 and 496,834, [both in Group XI], are referred to.
