[Class 132 (iii)] A toy railway comprises a base having a track slot 26 extending in a closed path to form an inner portion supported from an outer portion by bridges 29, 30, 31 crossing the track, a rotary arm 45 pivotally mounted on the under side of the inner portion, extending horizontally immediately below the undersurface and concealed by the base, the said arm being engageable with a vehicle 38 located on the track by means of a connection extending through the slot characterized in that the vehicle is adapted to be connected to the rotary arm by simply placing it in position on the track, the said connection being readily detachable and permitting the vehicle to be driven round a non- circular track by the arm without being lifted from the track. The arm 45 is attached to a pulley 16 driven by a belt from a pulley 19 operated from a crank 24 or by mechanical means, and is flexible so as to be able to engage projections 41 from the vehicles 38 through the slot 26. As shown in Fig. 3, a locomotive 38 may have carriages 39, 40 attached by rings 43 fitting over the upper ends of guiding projections 42 and over a coupling hook 44 on the locomotive. Bumpers 64 are fitted for reversing. The slot 26 has two additional slots 33, 34 attached, and points 46, 47, 48 for guiding the train at the connections of the slots. The train normally traverses the outer slots due to centrifugal force but by operation of the points can be constrained to the inner track. Points 47, 48 are operated by levers 53, Fig. 6, with projections 57 engaging teeth 58 when the points are in the open position. The point 46 is hand-operated. In a modification, Fig. 5, the arm 45 is replaced by a tube 59 in which slides a rod 60 the end of which projects through the slot to engage the vehicle on the track.
