Abstract

496,106. Detachable wheel mountings for cycles &c. HOCHHAUS, S. July 1, 1938, No. 19518. Convention date, Nov. 4, 1937. [Class 136 (ii)] In a, detachable wheel mounting for motor and other cycles &c. of the type in which the wheel axle is held in position in lugs on each prong of the fork by means of a pivoted yoke adapted to be swung away to release the axle and wheel, the pivoted yoke is retained in the operative position in the following manner. Each lug 1 on the fork is formed with a recess 2 to receive the axle 3, and is provided with a pivot pin 7 for a member 8, which is forked to receive one end of a yoke 10, a cross-pin 9 in the member 8 engaging a slot 12 in the yoke to provide a pivotal and slidable connection. The yoke 10 is recessed at 11 to engage the underside of the axle 3, and its outer end slidably engages the end wall of a cap or sleeve 13, which is urged inwards by a compression spring 16. The rim 19 of the cap 13 is thus adapted to snap into a recess 6 in the lug 1. A screw 18 is then actuated to force the inner end of the yoke 10 upwards to clamp the yoke against the axle 3.
