488,924. Aircraft fuel - tanks. ELLOR, J. E. Jan. 12, 1937, No. 923. [Class 4] [Also in Groups XXIX, XVII, XXVII, and XXVIII] In an aircraft, to prevent flow of liquid from one supply-tank A to another, during manoeuvres, hinged non-return flap-valves D are arranged at the end of branch pipes B, leading from the tanks into a common outflow pipe B<2>. The seatings are inclined to the vertical so that, in the horizontal position shown, the flaps D reach their seatings under gravity before reaching the vertical position. The flaps may be weighted to assist this action. The tanks may contain cooling-liquid or enginefuel, the tanks feeding a fuel-pump in the latter case. Risk of such fuel-pump becoming unprimed is thereby avoided.
