Abstract

A rubber glove is provided, on the interior or exterior surface, or both, with a coating simulating a suede finish formed for instance, by applying flock, wood dust, leather dust or other animal or vegetable fibre. Preferably the glove is produced by coating a former by dipping or spraying with a compounded aqueous dispersion of rubber, e.g. latex and applying, e.g. by blowing, to the wet surface a suede coating consisting of powdered fibre. After vulcanizing, the glove is removed from the former and turned inside out so that the suede coated surface will be on the inside. The former is preferably provided with a grooved or roughened surface so as to impart a non-slip surface to the exterior of the glove.
