Abstract
487,137. Mixing fluids in flow. CORNELL MACHINE CO. Jan. 13, 1938, No. 1140. Convention date, Jan. 13, 1937. [Class 86] Apparatus for supplying a mixture of liquids in definite proportions comprises a battery of units each comprising a pump discharging into a manifold common to the units, means being provided for driving the pumps at constant relative rates, and the pumps being provided with means for controlling their outputs. Each unit comprises a pump 8, which is of the kind described in U.S.A. Specification 2,042,880 and has its output controlled by the operation of a calibrated turn screw 28, a motor 38, driving the pump through chosen gears 30, 34, and a common discharge manifold 2 made in sections on each of which one of the pumps is carried. The motors are separately energized and are interconnected by belts passing over double pulleys 44, one pulley being adjustable relativety to the other to effect synchronization, the construction including a member 48, the removal of which cuts out the drive of the individual motor. The liquids are fed through pipes 12, sight glasses 14 and pressure and temperature gauges being provided.
