Abstract
486,568. Controlling aircraft. FAIREY, C. R. June 5, 1937, No. 15656. [Class 4] An aeroplane wing has its trailing marginal portion split into an upper 16 and a lower 11 section, the section 11 being movable in the manner and by the means set out in Specification 486,565 ; both sections being movable in the manner described in Specification 190,774, [Class 4], the sections 11, 16 being connected by a link 18. The section 16 is mounted on pivots 17 and the ends of the link 18 may be pivoted at the respective centres of pressure of the sections. The sections may be co-extensive or the upper section may terminate forwardly or rearwardly of the lower section. The section 16 and the link 13 may be connected to a common pivot and the link 18 may be extensible being, e.g. spring-loaded or formed by an hydraulic jack. The links may be duplicated, the flaps may be divided into separate lengths and the flap 11 may form a slot during opening.
