[Class 114] [Also in Group XXIII] A wooden airscrew blade 1, secured by means of a threaded end 3, is formed of alternate laminations a with intermediate laminations b, c, the former being about three times the thick ness of the latter and having their grain run ning in the direction of the tensile forces, whilst the grain of the latter runs at approximately 45‹ to that of the former and alternately in opposite directions, so that the grains of two successive laminations b, c lie approxi. mately at 90‹ to one another.
