Abstract

473,276. Converting. BLUMLEIN, A. D. March 10, 1936, No. 7206. [Class 38 (ii)] Distortion of the current waveform from sinusoidal in the A.C. supply to a rectifier is avoided by making the impedance of the input circuit of the rectifier large for all frequencies except the fundamental. This is effected by connecting in series in the supply to the rectifier 4, 5 a series resonant circuit 12, 13 tuned to the fundamental. The condenser size mav be adjusted to compensate for the leakage inductance of the transformer and for the inductance of the A.C. circuit. The trans; former may be arranged to have sufficient leakage inductance to render an additional inductance 12 unnecessary. The Specification states that when used with hot-cathode valves the invention reduces the amount of cathode disintegration.
