Abstract

478,346. Reflectors. STEVENS, A. H. (Arbuckle Corporation, S. F.) May 13, 1936, No. 13553. [Class 97 (i)] A sign comprises a plurality of embossed light - reflecting surfaces each having a supporting portion extending substantially perpendicular to the base of the sign and a convex portion lying substantially within a plane inclined to the base of the sign and extending from the base to the outer end of the supporting portion, impinging light from a source being reflected back through a pre-determined limited zone encompassing the source. Figs. 4, 6 show an embodiment in which a traffic sign is built-up of curved surfaces 22 provided with supporting portions 28, the zones of reflected light from the surfaces 22 overlapping to provide a continuous zone. The sign may be provided with additional reflecting surfaces such as spherical or pyramidal, for reflecting light from the source in all directions in front of the sign.
