Abstract

477,927. Washing sand, gravel, &c. HARDY & PADMORE, Ltd., and GUISE, C. Aug. 8, 1936, No. 21880. [Class 82 (ii)] Countercurrent rotary washers for sand, gravel, &c. in which the material is propelled through a barrel by fixed blading on the interior surface of the barrel are provided with discharge mechanism for the washed material comprising one or more lifting blades c, each of which co-operates with a discharge shoot d which rotates with the barrel and is spaced from the corresponding blade c so as to leave a gap e through which water may drain back into the barrel. Either the blades c or the shoots d or both the blades and the shoots are adjustably mounted so that the size of the gap may be controlled. In the form shown, the blades c, which may be perforated, are arcuate in shape and adjacent the shoots are formed with slightly inturned serrated edges c<1> to retard the material and assist in the draining action. The shoots d are also arcuate in shape and are formed with guide flanges d<1> on one side. The blades c are secured by means including slotted lugs so that the blade may be moved longitudinally to vary the size of the gap e or may be adjusted angularly.
