Abstract

477,411. Vehicle wheel - suspensions. LISTER & CO., Ltd., R. A., and ASHWORTH, P. B. June 29, 1936, No. 18041. [Class 108 (ii)] In a vehicle having a pair of stabilizer wheels one on each side of the vehicle the mounting of each wheel comprises a pillar structure carrying the wheel and mounted in a bearing constrained to partake of endwise movements of the pillar and a resilient connection between the pillar bearing and the vehicle frame permitting relative movement in the vertical plane. Fig. 2 shows a three-wheeled autotruck provided additionally with a single stabilizer wheel 12 arranged at either side, the wheel 12 being provided with a pillar 16 and fork 15 mounted in and on a bearing 18, Fig. 3, which is integral with an arm 24, each arm 24 being mounted on a cross shaft 22 and resiliently restrained by a tension spring 25. Fig. 8 shows another arrangement in which the bearing 18 is carried by two pairs of arms 28, 29 pivoted to a bracket 32 on the chassis. The bracket 32 and bearing 18 are provided with abutments 37, 38 between which a compression spring 25 is arranged. The upper and lower pairs of arms 28, 29 are respectively connected by bridge pieces 41 which, in conjunction with the abutments 37, 38, act as stops to limit movement of the bearing 18. The fork 15 is provided with a mudguard 14.
