Abstract

476,706. Fastening bags &c. to cycle saddles &c. PATERSON, T. W. Sept. 5, 1936, No. 24273. [Class 136 (i)] [Also in Group XXV] Means for readily securing and detaching bags suspended from cycle saddles, and applicable also for securing similar articles to other supports, comprises pairs of spaced straps a, e attached respectively to the saddle &c. f and to the bag &c. g and interconnected by pivoted links c, which are detachably connected to the lower straps &c. e in such a way that they can be disconnected therefrom, without unfastening the straps, by displacement of the links. The detachable connection comprises open-ended slots c<2> in the links c, adapted to engage bolts or rivets d passing through the ends of the straps e. The links c are normally retained in the locked position by a tension spring h enclosed in a sleeve k, the ends of which act as stops for the links. The sleeve k may be divided, and the two parts may be grasped by the fingers to disconnect the links by outward pressure. Alternatively, a compression spring may be employed, the slots c<2> then opening outwards. A third readily-releasable strap may secure the bag to the saddle pillar or the rear forks.
