Abstract
476,352. Loom picking - mechanism. TEFAG TEXTIL-FINANZ AKT.-GES. Dec. 17, 1936, No. 34744. Convention date, Feb. 22. [Class 142 (iii)] In a spring picking-motion the picker operating member is secured to a rod-like spring member to which torsion is applied by power derived from the loom so as to store therein the energy required for the pick. As shown in Fig. 1, a rod 4 mounted in bearings 5, 6 carries at one end a picker arm 7 and at the other end a crank 8 which is oscillated by a grooved cam 11 so as to move the arm 7 into locking engagement with a latch 15 and then twist the rod 4 in a clockwise direction. On release of the latch, by means of a member moving in the direction of the arrow 19, the arm 7 springs from full to dotted line position and projects the shuttle through the shed. In a modification, the arm 7 is mounted in the centre of a rod that is fixed at one end and carries a crank 8 at the other. Fig. 4 shows a further modification wherein a rod 4, that is fixed at the end remote from the picker arm, is twisted into picking position V by the action of a crank operated latch 28 on a pin 31 on the arm 7, the latch being raised at the appropriate time by a pin 27 on the end of a crank-connecting rod 24. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, the picker arm may also be set by a bell-crank lever driven by a crank and released by a latch such as 15. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
