Abstract

475,215. Thread guides for winding- machines. HOLT, Ltd., T., and BRIERLEY, E. Sept. 29, 1936, No. 26373. [Class 120 (ii)] A self-threading traverse guide for yarn and like winding - machines comprises a base-piece 10 with a slot 11 and hollow boss 12 for engaging a guide rail and rod, and with a camfollower 16, and a headpiece with a convexly curved crown 18 merging into a nose 19 notched on its underside to provide a guide slit 20, and with a projection 21 next to the driving-drum and cone. The head-piece, shown in Figs. 1 and 3, may be formed of porcelain and embraces a flange 23 on the base-piece, or, as shown in Fig. 4, a pot-eye 28 notched on its underside is clamped between an extension 24 of the base-piece and a plate 30, the extension 24 and the plate 30 being convexly curved on their upper surfaces and merging into a nose notched on its underside. A lubricating-pad is carried in the base-piece which is channelled for the passage of lubricant to the guide rails and the cam-follower and cam-groove.
