Abstract

474,628. Thermal switches. BLOOMER, F. C. M. May 14, 1936, No. 13635. [Class 38 (v)] In an electrically heated utensil, a contact bridge 6 is spring-mounted on a rigid bar 7 carried by a blade spring 8 on a fixed bracket 9 and is held in engagement with fixed contacts 15 in the heating circuit by means of the bent round end 17a of a bimetallic strip 17 mounted on a stud 18 on the bottom of the utensil. When the utensil boils dry the strip 17 bends to release the contact arm which may be reset on cooling by pushing in a knob 19a.
