Abstract
461,908. Hair and wool clippers. WOLSELEY SHEEP SHEARING MACHINE CO., Ltd., and WATTS, J. H. Sept. 7, 1935, No. 24942. [Class 131] In a sheep-shearing machine, the rocker A driving the cutter C has a single fork B having three prongs, the inner prong b<1> being horizontally pivoted in relation to the two outer prongs b, each prong having a downward projection b<2>, b<3> entering a hole in or near each tooth of the cutter. The middle prong is pivoted at D and pressure is applied thereto by a dolly pin E. A transverse plate F riveted to the underside of the prongs b, b has downward projections f entering comparatively large holes in the cutter. Normally, these projections lie freely in the holes and transmit no drive, but they serve to prevent the detachment of the cutter in the event of the disengagement of the projections b<2>, b3 from the holes of the cutter. In a modification, Fig. 4, the middle prong b 1 is rigid with the rocker and the two outer prongs b join into a yoke G which is pivoted at D to the rocker. The rocker and the pivoted part may have more than one pivot hole so that the position of the pivot and hence the relative pressure of the outer and middle prongs may be'varied.
