Abstract
468,974. Electromagnetic relays. PIESKER, B., and GOY, W. Jan. 25, 1936, No. 2431. Convention date, Jan. 25, 1935. [Class 38 (v)] In an electromagnetic relay the core and /or armature of which carries an adherent film of non-magnetic material acting as a " residual " to protect such film from damage by impact of the armature, a loose intermediate layer of solid material is arranged between the armature and the core and in cases where the armature has an angular extension between the armature and yoke. As shown in the Figure in which the adjacent faces of the armature a and core b of a telephone-type relay are coated with very thin films t of non-magnetic material, a loose intermediate layer o is mounted about the armature pivot s so as to extend between the films and prevent their damage by the impact of the armature. Similarly, the angular extension of the member o separates films on the armature and the horizontal arm of the yoke c when the armature is in its unoperated position. The layer o is preferably formed of a non-conductor such as artificial resin or celluloid.
