Abstract
468,207. Ground anchors. DRABBLE, J. E. L. Dec. 31, 1935, No. 29310. [Class 45] A ground anchor for securing tents &c. comprises a casing 25 formed of channel bar, which has the open side closed at intervals by plates 26, 27 welded to the channel flanges, and which houses a slide 31 provided with flukes 32 adapted to be projected through apertures 34 in the channel flanges when the slide is raised. The slide has a cross-bar 40 and holes 36, 37, and when in raised position a spring pin 39, Fig. 3, is passed through aligned holes 36, 38 in the slide and in the casing to maintain the flukes fully projected. The casing is formed with a point 30 by slitting the flanges from the web, bending them into contact, welding, and removing the excess portions of the web. According to a modification, the flukes 46, Fig. 5, may be of curved rigid construction having slots engaging a pin 45 whereby the flukes are loosely coupled to the slide.
