Abstract

452,009. Electric indirect lighting lamps. ALLOM, G., 16, Grosvenor Place, Hyde Park Corner, London. Feb. 13, 1935, No. 4613. [Class 75 (iv)] An electric lamp for indirect lighting comprises one or more bulbs A partially surrounded or enclosed by one or more reflectors B, and one or more elements C made of transparent glass with portions C<1> of one surface rendered translucent, the elements C being so arranged that-their body portions are shielded from rays direct from the bulbs A and from the reflectors B, some of the rays from the bulbs A being caused to impinge on the internal surface of a bevelled edge C<2> of one or more of the elements C. In the forms shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the reflector B is bowl shaped and is surrounded by a casing E, and clips D<1> are provided for holding the element C in position. The lower end of the lamp may be closed by a cap E<1>, Fig. 2, or some rays from the bulb A may impinge directly on the edge of an additional lower glass element C of trumpet shape carried by a cap D, Fig. 1. Fig. 2 also shows an additional glass element C above the reflector B. The latter may be provided with openings to receive the inner edges of further glass elements arranged between the two shown, and an additional conical reflector may be arranged within the reflector B to augment the direct rays falling on the edges of the elements C. In the form shown in Fig. 3, both glass elements C are bevelled at C<2> and the clips D<1> also hold in position a shield F<1> which carries a bracket F<2> and hooks F<3> supporting a semicircular reflector B. Means may be provided to direct rays from the reflector B on to the edges of the elements C. The latter may be made of coloured glass. Specification 350,099 is referred to. The Provisional Specification also refers to the application of the invention to glass cornices fitted with tubular electric light bulbs.
