Abstract
459,856. Blowpipe burners. LINDE AIR PRODUCTS CO., 30, East 42nd Street, New York, U.S.A.-(Assignees of Cowin, H. W. ; 740, Oak Avenue, Westfield, New Jersey, U.S.A.) July 15, 1935, No. 20127. Convention date, Aug. 1, 1934. [Class 75 (i)] A blowpipe burner comprises a handle 10 having oxygen and fuel-gas regulating valves 18, 20 fitted in a block 17 at its forward end and an oxygen-air injector 36 fitted in a block 15 at its rear end, a gas mixer 28 seated in the block 17, and, threaded on the mixer 28, a stem 11 which is secured to the block 17 by a coupling 12 and carries the burner nozzle 45. The oxygen and acetylene supply conduits 13, 14 extend through the handle 10 to ducts 19, 21 in the block 17. The oxygen passes through the valve 18 and a tube 34 to the injector 36 where it becomes mixed with air entering through ports 41. The mixture flows through a tube 43 and a bore 44 in the block 17 to an axial bore 30 in the mixer 28. The acetylene, which is supplied at a lower pressure than the oxygen, passes through the valve 20 by a duct 26 to an annular chamber 31 between the mixer 28 and block 17 and then through bores 32 in the mixer to mix with the oxygen-air mixture in the cavity between the mixer and the stem. Alternatively the fuel gas may be supplied under pressure to the pipe 13 and oxygen at a lower pressure to the pipe 14. Specification 405,285 is referred to.
