Abstract
456,933. Ingot moulds. REYTERE, R. DE, Moustier-sur-Sambre, Belgium. Sept. 19, 1935, No. 26028. Convention date, Sept. 19, 1934. [Class 83 (i)] To prevent piping a cap or bell 2, made of feebly combustible material and adapted to receive a head of the cast metal in its cylindrical or truncated conical part 2a, is fixed in the upper portion of the mould 1, Fig. 1, by arms 3 or, in the case of bottom pouring, is arranged to float on the rising metal until arrested by arms 12, Fig. 3. The arms 3, 12 may be arranged to hold the cap 2 in an intermediate position for casting a short ingot. When used for bottom pouring the cap is closed by a disc 11 nailed thereto. Mould materials.-The cap may be made of ligneous material impregnated with fire resisting liquids or of porous refractory impregnated with combustible material.
