[Class 9 (i)] Relates to clockwork fuzes of the kind in which the clockwork is wound and set by a member which can be rotated several times around the axis of the projectile. According to the invention, the winding and setting is performed by means of a hood B, which carries a pinion E round with it, said pinion being in mesh with a fixed toothed ring G and a movable crown wheel D, so that the crown wheel D rotates with the hood B but at a different speed, and the setting is indicated by graduations on the lower edge of the hood B and by other graduations on the crown wheel visible through a window C in the hood. The hood is attached to a core member J provided with a central screw H, which is in engagement with a nut like member L projecting through slots in the core J, and bears at its inner and against a seat J<1> in the core, so that by turning the screw, the core J can be tightened against a conical seat K on the body of the fuze. The core J is connected at its inner end to the clockwork M. The clockwork is provided with a copper washer P, which is clamped against teeth Q on a fixed ring R by the set back of a ring N when the shot is fired, after which a centrifugal ball T moves out and prevents rebound of the ring N ; this arrangement retains the clockwork in its set position.
