Abstract
Dicresyldithiophosphoric acid is produced by reacting 15 parts by weight of phosphorus pentasulphide with 85 parts of cresylic acid.ALSO:A flotation agent for the froth flotation of minerals comprises an organic derivative of dithiophosphoric acid such as an aryl dithiophosphoric acid or a salt of such derivative with thiocarbanilide in solution, the amount of thiocarbanilide present being less than that of the other constituent. The salts used are generally the alkali or ammonium salts and in an example the amount of thiocarbanilide used is 6 per cent. Dicresyldithiophosphoric acid which may be used is prepared by reacting 15 parts by weight of phosphorus pentasulphide with 85 parts of cresylic acid. When the salts are used an alcohol such as ethyl alcohol is added to make the composition fluid at ordinary temperatures.
