Abstract

441,916. Hydroplanes. GRUNBERG, (known as GREG), W., 14, Rue de Varize, Paris. May 13, 1935, No. 13968. Convention date, May 12, 1934. [Classes 113 (ii) and 114] A hydroplane is provided with completely immersed dynamic sustentation members which supports them when the hull rises clear of the water, and these members are secured toward the rear of a frame which at the front carries one or more stabilizing members which rest upon the water. A hydroplane 1 is provided with a superstructure 12 for aero propellers and has a depending fin 3 upon which hydrofoil supporting members 2 are fixed. At the front are secured struts which carry stabilizing members 6, 7 in the form of floats, each strut having an interposed spring member 13. Upon the axis 5 of the struts, further air foils 11 may be fitted. In a modification, the floats 6 are replaced by hydrofoils. It is also suggested that the supporting member can take the form of driven or auto-rotary screws, or rotating cylinders using the Magnus effect. Further, the propulsion means may be installed in the forward floats. The hull 1 instead of acting as the frame may be adjustably secured to the frame whereby the incidence of the surface 2 may be altered whilst maintaining the trim of tHe hull. The sustentation members may be disposed in the air instead of in the water.
