Abstract
Stable preparations containing alkali hydrosulphides are obtained by strongly heating a solution containing the hydrosulphide under conditions further promoting rapid evaporation, for instance, under reduced pressure or by spray-drying. The stability of the product may be increased by using a mixed solution of hydrosulphide and sulphide, and/or incorporating substances of a hygroscopic nature, such as glycerine, the sodium salts of sulphurized aromatic hydroxycompounds, or potassium thiocyanate. In examples, a technical solution of sodium hydrosulphide and a solution containing 32 per cent hydrosulphide and 15,3 per cent sodium sulphide are dried under 60 mm. pressure in a vacuum apparatus heated by steam under a pressure of 4 atmospheres.
