Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, April 30, 1934]. [Class 80 (iv)] [See also Group XXX] A device for preventing reverse rotation in machines such as conveyers and haulage apparatus comprises pawls carried by a rotary part and a stationary ratchet wheel. The pawls 8 are pivoted at one end and when the speed of rotation exceeds a certain magnitude are thrown clear of the teeth 7 thus eliminating noise and wear. In a construction, Fig. III, which is operable in either direction, two sets of pawls 8a, 8<b> oppositely directed, are pivoted to a ring 10a, which may slide along the shaft 9a. Either set may thus be caused to engage the ratchet teeth 6.
