Abstract

432,298. Ventilators. FIELD, F. A., 399, Hagley Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham, and GUTHRIE, J., 15, Boslowick Road, Falmouth, Cornwall. April 7, 1934, No. 10551. [Class 137] A ventilator which provides for an inflow of air, and also for exhaust, comprises an open ended tube 5 parallel to the direction of air flow and a branch tube 7 leading to the space to be ventilated, a metal strip 9 dividing the tube 7 into two passages 10, 11 and being continued into the tube 5 where it is bent at 8 to form two diverging surfaces 12, 13. The bent strip extends across the open ended tube 5, and the incoming air is deflected by the surface 12 down the passage 10, and the constricted passage above the surface 13 induces an outflow of air up the passage 11. The tube 7 is supported by a collar 14 or a coaming 15 in which it may be turned to face the desired direction. In a modification, Fig. 3, the strip is bent at 24 to project the incoming air forwardly, the ventilator being applied to a vehicle roof. An overhanging portion 22 prevents the entry of rain.
