[Class 69 (ii)] Hydraulic couplings are cooled during empty running by admitting a quantity of liquid smaller than the quantity required during normal operation to replace leakage but sufficient to produce a cloud which carries off the windage heat. In the form shown, the filling valve e and the emptying ring fare mechanically interconnected ; in a modification, the interconnection employs a pressure transmitting medium, and a spring tends to open the valve e.
