437,920. Control of D.C. Motors. PESTARINI, G. M., Societa San Giorgio, Genoa, Sestri, Italy. Jan. 22, 1935, No. 2103. Convention date, Jan. 22, 1934. [Class 38 (iii)] Regenerative and non - regenerative braking.-For braking traction motors M1, M2, which are fed with constant current from a commutator machine, MT, switching means are provided whereby a resistance R is connected across the primary brushes a, c, of the machine MT, or in series with the motors M1, M2, to absorb power developed by the motors. The resistance may be that connected in the circuit of the machine MT for starting. The motors may be connected one across brushes c, b, and the other across brushes a, d. The controller may be provided with driving and regenerative braking notches and additional notches for connecting the resistance, the resistance braking being employed if regenerative braking fails. The braking resistance may be constituted wholly or in part by the coil of electromagnetic brakes, or these latter brakes may be supplied separately from auxiliary machines on the shaft of the machine MT.
