[Class 140] [See also Group XXXVI] The inflammability of textile materials particularly artificial textile materials such as those made of cellulose acetate or other organic derivatives of cellulose, is reduced by coating or impregnating with an alkylolamine salt of an inorganic acid, such as a halide, phosphate or borate. Yarns so treated are suitable for knitting or for braiding or wrapping on electric conductors. The salts are applied in the form of solutions or dispersions in water or organic liquids, and the solution may contain an excess of alkylolamine or of the acid in order that it may not be strongly acid or alkaline ; and the solution may be applied to the yarn, or to the fabric or to braided or wrapped wire, or to both the yarn and to the braided covering.
