Abstract

437,159. Typewriters. HINZ, G. H., 12, Schalkerstrasse, Gelsenkirchen, Germany. Feb. 11, 1935, No. 4331. [Class 100 (iv)] Alarms.-In last-line alarms comprising a spring contact which is normally separated by the sheet from a contact on the platen, a battery and bell are enclosed in the platen, and the circuit includes the frame of the platen-carriage, and the shaft of the platen. In the alarm shown in the Figure, a battery 2 and bell 4 are mounted in the platen 1, the bell-support 3 being formed as a cap which fits on the battery. The battery terminal 5 rests on a metal sleeve 6 in the platen, and the battery terminal 5<1> is connected to the bell terminal 7, the bell terminal 8 being connected to a contact spring 9 which is secured to the battery by a clip 10. A screw 11 engaging the contact spring passes through a metal ring 12 which is mounted in the platen and co-operates with a metal ring 14 mounted in one of the spring-urged feed-rollers 13. A screw 15 connects the ring to the feed-roller shaft, which is mounted in the platen-carriage. When the bottom edge of the sheet passes the feed-rollers, the rings make contact, and the bell rings.
