Abstract

436,236. Suppositories; capsules. SCHMIDT, K. W., 6, Innere Cramer-Klettstrasse, Nuremberg, Germany. April, 26, 1934, No. 12590. [Classes 81 (i) and 81 (ii)] A capsule for introducing medicaments into cavities of the body in which there is no digestive action is composed of a mixture of binding- agents with a water-soluble salt or sugar or urea. It may have a stopper composed of easily melting material such as cocoa-butter. An effervescent powder may be mixed with the material of the capsule or with its contents. In a modification, shown in Fig. 2, the capsule a is composed of a water-pervious material such as potato-flour dough, and an admixture of effervescent powder with the medicament d is essential. The latter may be covered by a disc e of water-pervious material and the lid b<1> may have an aperture c. Capsules according to the invention may also be used for containing medicaments, disinfectants, cosmetics, &c., to be dissolved in water for washing or skin treatment.
